Basketball Recap: Westhope/Newburg Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Westhope/Newburg hadn't done well against Bottineau recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Westhope/Newburg Sioux simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bottineau Braves/Stars 76-46. The Sioux have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 30 points or more this season.

Westhope/Newburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Walker Braaten led the charge by putting up 21 points along with seven boards and six steals. Braaten's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Tolstad, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Westhope/Newburg pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.9 points. As for Bottineau, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Westhope/Newburg will venture away from home to challenge Harvey at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bottineau, they will host Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
