Recap: Northern Valley Huskies vs. Ness City Eagles

The Northern Valley Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Ness City. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northern Valley in their matchups with Ness City: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mary Baird, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baird has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Austyn Cox, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.

Ness City was led to victory by Ashlyn Tillitson and Danae Rodriguez. Tillitson scored five points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Rodriguez scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Tillitson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Buller, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Northern Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Ness City, they pushed their record up to 1-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Valley is on the road again on Saturday and play against Victoria at 9:00 a.m. on December 9th. As for Ness City, they will face off against Trego at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Trego is ranked 147th, while Ness City is ranked 134th).
