Baseball Recap: Ephrata Takes a Loss

Ephrata and Hempfield pushed the score to 12-9 the last time they played Hempfield, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Mountaineers fell just short of the Black Knights by a score of 2-1. The Mountaineers have struggled against the Black Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Collin Miller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Caleb Grant was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Ephrata's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Hempfield, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 21-0.

Coming up, Ephrata will host Muhlenberg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hempfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
