Volleyball Recap: Mineral Ridge Starts Season with Victory at Home

Mineral Ridge took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They put the hurt on the Lowellville Rockets with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rockets, too.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-5, 25-16.

Malayna Wilson paced Mineral Ridge's offense, picking up 11 kills. Wilson got some help from Sullivan Sandy and her 32 assists. Madeline Gerberry controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Lowellville is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Mineral Ridge will be playing at home against McDonald at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lowellville, they will venture away from home to square off against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
