Basketball Recap: Platte Canyon Comes Up Short

Platte Canyon lost against Middle Park back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Platte Canyon Huskies were beaten by the Middle Park Panthers 60-23. The Huskies' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Platte Canyon lost, don't look at Ashlyn Smith. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and five rebounds.

Blaire Hester was a one-woman wrecking crew for Middle Park as she went 10 of 17 to rack up 25 points along with seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Hester a new career-high in field goal percentage (59%). Another player making a difference was Sydney Solomon, who earned nine points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds.

Platte Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Middle Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Platte Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-26 victory against Sheridan on the 3rd. As for Middle Park, they have also already played their next match, a 64-13 win against Englewood on the 3rd.
