Football Game Preview: Holy Cross Indians vs. Dayton Greendevils

The Holy Cross Indians will square off against the Dayton Greendevils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Cross will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Thursday, Holy Cross made easy work of Bellevue and carried off a 29-6 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Holy Cross found their leader in sophomore Brian Ferguson, who rushed for 137 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 62 yards and one touchdown on perfect 5-for-5 passing. Ferguson's longest rush was for an incredible 92 yards. Charles Oglesby was another key player, rushing for 137 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.

Holy Cross was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August.

One reason for the win was Holy Cross' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dustin Wilson, Max Hunt, and Garrett Frederick, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Dayton earned a 50-40 victory over Trimble County on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Greendevils in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
