Softball Recap: Foundation Christian Academy Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Foundation Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over the Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

Raeghan Ramsey and Makayla Howard made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ramsey struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Howard pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Ramsey went 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Howard scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Those four RBI gave Ramsey a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raegan Goble, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. McKay Barron was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Foundation Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foundation Christian Academy will welcome Carrollwood Day at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Keswick Christian at 6:00 p.m. Zephyrhills Christian Academy has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
