Basketball Recap: Willowbrook Gets the Win

Willowbrook's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies.

Ayaani Gusman was a one-woman wrecking crew for Willowbrook as she posted 28 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Willowbrook is undefeated when Gusman posts 15 or more points, but 4-20 otherwise. Loralai Mcintyre was another key player, putting up 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Oak Park-River Forest lost, don't look at Genevieve Simkowski. Despite the final result, she went 9-for-20 to rack up 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds. What's more, Simkowski also posted a 45% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taryn Draine, who earned 11 points and seven boards.

Willowbrook's win bumped their record up to 7-20. As for Oak Park-River Forest, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-28.

Willowbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oak Park-River Forest, they and Richards will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
