Softball Recap: Emporia Takes a Loss

Emporia lost against Iola back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Spartans came up short against the Mustangs, falling 23-6.

Emporia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marley Sewell, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Molly Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Emporia has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Iola, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Emporia will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Topeka at 4:00 p.m. As for Iola, they will take on Wellsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
