Recap: Carbon Dinos vs. Emery Spartans
The Carbon Dinos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a rough 69-44 defeat at the hands of Emery. Carbon has struggled against Emery recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Dinos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kahner Raby, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Evan Lancaster, who scored six points along with five assists.
Emery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wade Stilson led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Stilson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Tuttle, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Carbon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Emery, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carbon will square off against Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Carbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. Emery's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Emery has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
