Recap: Stone Tomcats vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes
After flying high against the East Central Hornets last Monday, the Stone Tomcats came back down to earth. The matchup between Stone and Laurel wasn't particularly close, with Stone falling 55-40. Stone has not had much luck with Laurel recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Tomcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ray Dennis, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cleon Johnson, who scored 13 points.
Stone's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Laurel, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-10.
Stone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Laurel, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wayne County at 8:30 p.m. Laurel is on a six-game streak of home wins, Wayne County a ten-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
