Basketball Game Preview: Billingsley Bears vs. Maplesville Red Devils

The Billingsley Bears will square off against the Maplesville Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Billingsley's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Maplesville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Maplesville will be up against a hot Billingsley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Billingsley walked away with a 33-25 victory over Holtville on Monday.

Billingsley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alana Jones, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds, and Derrica Motley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Jones has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 43 times she's played. Camia Sheppard was another key player, putting up no points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

Billingsley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 44 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Maplesville hadn't done well against Isabella recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Maplesville strolled past Isabella with points to spare, taking the game 38-24. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Billingsley is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Maplesville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
