Game recap

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Cameron Greenough in the first quarter, Sequoia (Redwood City, Calif.) led 30-0 at the half.

The Cherokee expanded their lead to 44 points entering the fourth quarter. Sequoia scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Matt Jenkins.

A 24-point second quarter helped SHS secure the big victory. The Redwood City school rushed for three touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, including two by Aaron Burns.

The Cherokee entered the contest giving up 27.1 points per game this year. A defensively strong Sequoia kept South San Francisco (Calif.) well above the 1.5 points it had been averaging per game.

SHS avenged last year's 36-28 loss to the Warriors with the victory.

The win was a nice bounce back for the Redwood City school, which lost to Sacred Heart Prep last week, 33-3.

Sequoia (4-5) will play a non-conference game against Carlmont next week, while South San Francisco (2-7) will take on El Camino also in a non-conference game.
