Preview: Tucker County Mountain Lions vs. Webster County Highlanders
The Tucker County Mountain Lions are on the road again on Friday and plays the Webster County Highlanders at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Tucker County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Webster County likes a good challenge.
Tucker County put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Hampshire 70-41 on the road.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tucker County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevan Bonner, who scored 23 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Rosenau, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Webster County had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They blew past Braxton County, posting a 92-46 victory at home. Webster County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Riley Clevenger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 35 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Raydan Triplett was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Tucker County's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Webster County, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tucker County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Webster County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.6 rebounds per game.
