Softball Recap: Nestucca's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Nestucca was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They blew past the Gaston Greyhounds 23-9. The game was the first time the Bobcats have beaten the Greyhounds on their field since April 27, 2022.

Rylee Armstrong was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Nielsen, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

Nestucca always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .689. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

With the victory, Nestucca broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-14. As for Gaston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Nestucca will have a chance to go back-to-back against Gaston: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
