Basketball Game Preview: Fostoria Redmen vs. Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains

The Fostoria Redmen and the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Fostoria easily dispatched Otsego last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Fostoria fell just short of Liberty-Benton by a score of 35-32 on Saturday. The Redmen haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Defeat or not, Fostoria got some senior leadership from Alycia Middlebrooks and Lyrique Johnson. Middlebrooks posted 11 points along with five boards and three steals, while Johnson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Hopewell-Loudon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Old Fort.

Fostoria's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Fostoria didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Hopewell-Loudon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-44 victory. Will Fostoria repeat their success, or does Hopewell-Loudon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
