Basketball Recap: Mallory Henrie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Panguitch over Wayne

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Panguitch couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wayne Badgers. The Bobcats have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Panguitch's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mallory Henrie, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Henrie is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayli Frandsen, who posted 11 points.

Wayne found their leader in sophomore AJ VanDyke, who went 9-for-16 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. VanDyke also brought in his first three-point shooting accuracy of the season. Another player making a difference was Timber Wood, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Panguitch's record is now 19-7. As for Wayne, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Panguitch nor Wayne have any future games scheduled.
