Baseball Game Preview: Cass City Red Hawks vs. Freeland Falcons

The Cass City Red Hawks will face off against the Freeland Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cass City 4, Freeland 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Freeland will be up against a hot Cass City squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Red Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand Bad Axe a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Gavin Franzel was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Ryker Wallace was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Cass City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Freeland was able to grind out a solid victory over Alma on Tuesday, taking the game 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Freeland's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Cass City, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Cass City might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Freeland when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Red Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
