Softball Recap: Linn Wildcats vs. Webster Groves Statesmen
After losing to Webster Groves the last time they met, Linn decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Linn Wildcats came out on top against the Webster Groves Statesmen by a score of 5-1 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Ava Warren was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Warren was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Linn let Elli Dudenhoeffer and Hannah Hackmann loose on the outfield. Dudenhoeffer scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Hackmann scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Linn's win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Linn is on the road again on Friday to play Sullivan at 3:15 p.m. As for Webster Groves, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. Webster Groves will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
