Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Drops Highest Score of Season Against Academy for Urban Scholars

Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Academy for Urban Scholars Centurion Hawks. One positive for the Cougar, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Cristo Rey still got an impressive performance from Nate Getahun, who posted 29 points. The contest was Getahun's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jordan Croom was another key player, putting up eight points.

Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Academy for Urban Scholars, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Cristo Rey won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Madison Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Academy for Urban Scholars, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against KIPP Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
