Baseball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 11-4 to the Clinton Maroons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in April.

Dan Enlow made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Meridian: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-17 otherwise. Jayden Doty was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Clinton, they pushed their record up to 17-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will take on Unity Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clinton, they will challenge Warrensburg-Latham at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
