Hanover Park took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Montville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 6-4.

Meanwhile, Morristown-Beard strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Manville with a sharp 8-1 victory. While the Crimson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Morristown-Beard got a great performance from Josh Greenwood as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on John Cartaina, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Austin Gildea was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
