Baseball Game Preview: Sycamore War Eagles vs. Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles

The Sycamore War Eagles will face off against the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sycamore 3.8, Shelbyville Central 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sycamore's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Cookeville hitters got past them. The War Eagles took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers on Friday. While the War Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cavaliers 5-1 in the first period.

Sycamore saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bradley Hudgens, who went 1-for-4 with two runs. Hazen Shirer also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville Central suffered their closest loss since March 18th on Friday. They fell just short of Creek Wood by a score of 3-1. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Shelbyville Central and nudges their season record down to 21-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Sycamore, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.
