Basketball Game Preview: Summit Academy Bears vs. Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle

The Summit Academy Bears will venture away from home to take on the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Summit Academy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Summit Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Draper APA on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Summit Academy was beaten by Draper APA 72-20. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Eagles are ranked 30th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kita Holmes, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Orme, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, Juan Diego Catholic can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Hillcrest by a score of 50-38.

Juan Diego Catholic's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Summit Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything came up roses for Summit Academy against Juan Diego Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Summit Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
