Basketball Recap: Azusa Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Azusa fought the good fight in their overtime game against Baldwin Park on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Baldwin Park Braves by a score of 46-43. That makes it the first time this season the Aztecs have let down their home crowd.

Azusa lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Adam Sanchez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. That was a full 44.2% of Azusa's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Noah Garcia, who put up ten points and five boards.

It was another big night for Rafael Godinez, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards for Baldwin Park. The dominant performance gave Godinez a new career-high in rebounds. Randle Tebo was another key player, putting up two points and 18 rebounds.

Azusa's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Baldwin Park, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Azusa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-45 loss against Sierra Vista on the 10th. As for Baldwin Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-39 victory against Garey on the 10th.
