Patrick Henry's loss came about despite a quality game from Deshawn Jones Jr., who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Jones Jr. is becoming a predictor of Patrick Henry's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 7-17 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jacob Baker, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Diego, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past St. Joseph Academy, posting a 64-36 win. Given the Cavers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Crusaders are ranked 937th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Patrick Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for San Diego, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5.

Patrick Henry came up short against San Diego when the teams last played back in January, falling 58-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of San Diego's Isaiah Marte, who went 10-for-23 en route to 28 points and four steals.
