League recap: Gowins breaks off league-leading run for St. Anthony's

Jordan Gowins of St. Anthony's ran for the longest rushing play in Catholic this season against Archbishop Stepinac last week. Gowins' team defeated the Crusaders as he sprinted for 94 yards on the play and finished with 302 in all.

Mt. St. Michael Academy scaled the state rankings by moving to 132 from 223 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mountaineers climbed the ranks as a result of besting St. John the Baptist 26-19.

Chaminade's dynamic duo of Sean Cerrone and Matthew Isnardi proved to be unstoppable against Fordham Prep, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cerrone threw for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns and Isnardi had 85 yards receiving. Jack Graffagnino helped Chaminade's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 65 yards.

The Flyers' dynamic duo of Cerrone and Isnardi proved tough for the Rams to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Isnardi was the best wideout in the league this week as Chaminade topped Fordham Prep.

Gowins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as St. Anthony's topped Archbishop Stepinac. Gowins' favorite target this week was David Antonacci, who caught 3 passes for 23 yards.

Gowins was the best running back in Catholic this week. Teammate Greg Galligan added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.

Gowins was a beast in the backfield as Rich Reichert's team defeated Mike ODonnell's team.

Cerrone put up the best numbers through the air as Stephen Boyd's team beat Al Seoage's team.

The Flyers' Cerrone and Isnardi have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cerrone has thrown for 510 yards this season, while Isnardi, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 10 catches for 205 yards. The Friars' Gowins leads the league in rushing yards with 630.

The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between St. Anthony's and Monsignor Farrell. The Friars enters the contest ranked 21st in the state, while the Lions ranks 10th.

Bishop Ford was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 15th to ninth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Falcons defeated Christ the King 34-18.
