Heartland Lutheran skates past St. Edward with ease

Recap: Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets vs. St. Edward Beavers

The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past St. Edward 61-10 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Heartland Lutheran as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Heartland Lutheran had a senior duo take command as Carly Niemoth scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks and Brielle Saddler scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals. Niemoth also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Francl, who scored four points along with eight steals.

Heartland Lutheran's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-8. As for St. Edward, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heartland Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nebraska Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for St. Edward, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
