Recap: Jersey Shore Bulldogs vs. Selinsgrove Seals
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Jersey Shore Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a tough 44-19 loss at the hands of Selinsgrove on Friday. Jersey Shore's defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Jersey Shore's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tate Sechrist, who gained 74 total yards and two touchdowns. Sechrist hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for ten straight games. Jerrin Loomis was another key contributor, throwing for 239 yards and a touchdown.
Selinsgrove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tucker Teats led the charge by rushing for 280 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Teats really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run. Gavin Bastian also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Jersey Shore's loss dropped their record down to 10-1-1. As for Selinsgrove, they pushed their record up to 12-0-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Jersey Shore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Selinsgrove will head out on the road to face off against Bethlehem Catholic at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Bethlehem Catholic is ranked 37th, while Selinsgrove is ranked 28th).
