Basketball Recap: L'Anse Creuse Takes a Loss

L'Anse Creuse played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Fitzgerald Spartans, falling 58-30. The Lancers lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 52-45 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why L'Anse Creuse lost, don't look at Alexa Maracle. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points and seven boards. Maracle is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Allison Tuladziecki was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, L'Anse Creuse smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

L'Anse Creuse has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Fitzgerald, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. L'Anse Creuse will challenge Lake Shore at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. L'Anse Creuse is facing Lake Shore at the right time seeing as Lake Shore is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Fitzgerald, they will face off against Marine City at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
