Norco faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cougars blew past the Huskies 15-3. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Landon Hovermale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Kevin Leon was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Seward, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Norco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Norco's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-7. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Norco will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
