Baseball Recap: Hillcrest Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Hillcrest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Blackfoot, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights never let the Broncos get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Thursday. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 10-1 win the Broncos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Not much got past Andrew Johnson, who gave up just two hits to keep Blackfoot off the board. Johnson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hillcrest is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Hillcrest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Smith, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Hillcrest is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Blackfoot, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Hillcrest will have a chance to go back-to-back against Blackfoot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
