Oxford Prep extended their winning streak to 12 on Monday, bumping their season record up to 15-2 in the process. They put the hurt on the Falls Lake Firebirds with a sharp 12-2 win. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Tanner Abbott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gage Hobgood was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Hunter Woodlief, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Falls Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. They haven't had much luck with Oxford Prep recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

On Falls Lake's side, Isaac Smoak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Smoak's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Oxford Prep and Falls Lake will both be playing Wake Prep Academy the next time they take the field. The Firebirds will head out to face the Guardians at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Griffins will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
