Basketball Recap: Utah School for the Deaf & Blind Comes Up Short

Utah School for the Deaf & Blind is still winless after their game against Mount Vernon on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Patriots. The Eagles lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-15 score last time.

Mount Vernon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mustafa Jalili, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. What's more, Jalili posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in January. Noah Adams was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

Utah School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mount Vernon, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Mount Vernon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Intermountain Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Utah School for the Deaf & Blind will be paying especially close attention to the Patriots' matchup: after the Patriots face off against the Lions, they'll take on Utah School for the Deaf & Blind again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
