Softball Recap: Johnson Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

Johnson won the last time they faced Fairfield and things went their way on Monday too. The Warriors blew past the Falcons 8-2. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Angelene Gonzales made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anissa Zavala, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Leticia Gonzales was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Johnson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive contests.

Johnson is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfield, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-7.
