Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Happy Arune and Emily Haux Lead Gaston Christian to Victory

Gaston Christian's and Westminster Catawba Christian's matchup on Thursday was close at halftime, but Gaston Christian turned on the heat in the second half with 30 points. The Gaston Christian Eagles were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Haux went 8 for 17 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while Arune dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Haux is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Williams, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

Gaston Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

Gaston Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
