Basketball Game Preview: Hackensack Comets vs. Northern Highlands Highlanders

The Hackensack Comets will head out to face off against the Northern Highlands Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hackensack's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Hackensack is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Ramapo just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 66-61 to the Raiders. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 21-11 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Northern Highlands entered their tilt with Paramus on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Spartans. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Spartans are ranked 175th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hackensack's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Northern Highlands, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.

Hackensack beat Northern Highlands 74-66 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
