Preview: Allendale-Fairfax Tigers vs. Branchville Yellow Jackets
Allendale-Fairfax and Branchville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Allendale-Fairfax Tigers will be playing at home against the Branchville Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Allendale-Fairfax has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
Last Monday, Allendale-Fairfax was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-38 to Royal Live Oaks Academy.
Branchville suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They suffered a tough 66-45 loss at the hands of Bethune-Bowman. Branchville has struggled against Bethune-Bowman recently, as their game on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Branchville saw an underclassman step up: Kyran Glover scored 16 points along with three steals. Glover hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Daniel Jennings was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Allendale-Fairfax has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Branchville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Allendale-Fairfax couldn't quite finish off Branchville when the teams last played on January 5th and fell 46-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Glover, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Now that Allendale-Fairfax knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
