Basketball Recap: Barr-Reeve Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Barr-Reeve was riding high fresh off their 43-18 takedown of Pike Central last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Barr-Reeve Vikings took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orleans Bulldogs. That makes it the first time this season the Vikings have let down their home crowd.

Despite the loss, Barr-Reeve had strong showings from Hannah Bledsoe, who posted seven points in addition to 17 boards and six blocks, and Shelby Dobson, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points. Bledsoe is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.

Orleans found their leader in sophomore Chelsea Ralph, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ralph a new career-high in assists (three). Adrian Abel was another key player, putting up four points and seven steals.

Barr-Reeve's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Orleans, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Barr-Reeve will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Wood Memorial at 5:30 p.m. As for Orleans, they will head out to challenge Springs Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orleans' defense has only allowed 24.1 points per game this season, so Springs Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
