Baseball Recap: Woonsocket's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Sunday

Woonsocket dropped their record down to 19-2 on Sunday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Tiverton Tigers. The Villa Novans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

Braylon Guilbeault made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Tiverton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-12. Seven seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Tiverton's side, they got a great performance from Alex Monkevitz as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Monkevitz also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Tigers are 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-11 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Mercer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kyle Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

As of now, neither Woonsocket nor Tiverton have any future games scheduled.
