Columbus gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Northgate Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since September 12, 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (58-54) Columbus actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 13-25, 15-9.

Northgate's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Columbus and Northgate will both be playing Trinity Christian the next time they take the court. The Vikings will head out to face the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
