Baseball Recap: Richfield Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Richfield can now relate to. They came up short against the Grantsville Cowboys on Wednesday, falling 16-10. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Cowboys: they've now lost three in a row.

Jess Curtis and Max Albrecht did some serious damage despite the final result: Curtis went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Albrecht got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Richfield is 3-1 when Curtis posts three or more RBI, but 9-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Slate Reitz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Richfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-19. As for Grantsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season.

Richfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grantsville, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-3 defeat against Juab on the 14th.
