Recap: Pine View Panthers vs. Cedar Reds

The Pine View Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 34-23 to Cedar. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pine View in their matchups with Cedar: they've now lost three in a row.

Pine View's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Costa, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown. Adam Moore was another key contributor, throwing for 361 yards and three touchdowns.

Cedar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jt Jeter led the charge by picking up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Jeter is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Tredyn Elliott and his 186 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cedar's win.

Cedar's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Dahgo Houchen.

Pine View's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Stansbury and 9-1 Crimson Cliffs (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.9% over those games). As for Cedar, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Pine View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cedar will take on Crimson Cliffs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crimson Cliffs will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
