Crystal River is a perfect 10-0 against Weeki Wachee since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Crystal River's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Weeki Wachee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Violet Flynn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Athena Childs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Riley Castle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Crystal River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Weeki Wachee was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 8-1 to Zephyrhills.
Weeki Wachee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austyn Childs, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Crystal River's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Weeki Wachee, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9.
Weeki Wachee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Crystal River has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Weeki Wachee, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Crystal River keep running through batters, or will the Hornets buck the trend?
Crystal River took their victory against Weeki Wachee in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
