Recap: Lake Nona Lions vs. Master's Academy Eagles
The Lake Nona Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 60-37 defeat at the hands of Master's Academy. While losing is never fun, Lake Nona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while Master's Academy is ranked 209th).
Despite the loss, Lake Nona saw an underclassman step up: Nadeen Elgamal scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Dakota Jean-Louis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Lake Nona bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.9 points per game. As for Master's Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Lake Nona will head out on the road to face off against Lake Howell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Master's Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Deltona at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
