            Softball Recap: Chrisman Cardinals vs. Hoopeston Cornjerkers        
        
		
        
        
            Chrisman extended their losing streak  to nine  on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost  14-4 to the Hoopeston Cornjerkers. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing  1-0 to the Cornjerkers when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
  Taylor Jones was cooking despite her team's loss,   going a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  run.
As for Hoopeston, their record now sits at 8-11. The result was nothing new for the Cornjerkers, who have now won seven contests by ten  runs or more  so far this season.
On Hoopeston's side,  Maddie Barnes was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   six  hits. Barnes was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with four  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Addyson Kelnhofer was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with six  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. Those  six  RBI gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Kayla Recker, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with two  runs and one  triple.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chrisman is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Westville  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Meanwhile, Hoopeston will  challenge  rival Armstrong  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
