Softball Recap: Elmwood's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Elmwood entered their tilt with Riverdale on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Falcons. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.

Allyie Reynolds and Addi Hoffman were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Reynolds pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Hoffman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Reynolds went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Hoffman went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Hoffman has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Elmwood let Leah Allison and Libbie Tyson run wild. Allison went 3-for-4 with seven RBI and two doubles, while Tyson went 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave Allison a new career-high. Maddy Campbell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Elmwood's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Riverdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmwood will host Lakota at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.46 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Riverdale, they will square off against Bucyrus at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
