Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Comes Up Short

Falls Lake fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Research Triangle on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to the Research Triangle Raptors. The Firebirds' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Falls Lake lost, don't look at Jonathan Taylor- Hamilton. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Taylor- Hamilton continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Camden Cooke, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Among those leading the charge was Akash Immani, who scored 27 points. Those 27 points gave him a new career-high.

Falls Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Research Triangle, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Falls Lake beat Research Triangle by a score of 58-48 on Monday.
