Basketball Recap: Central Crossing Takes a Loss

Central Crossing was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 63-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Union Lions. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 16-12 in the first quarter.

Loss or not, Central Crossing got some senior leadership from Cordelia Watkins and Savannah Hamilton. Watkins dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Hamilton went 7 for 16 on her way to 25 points and six boards. That was a full 49% of Central Crossing's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Central Crossing's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Liberty Union, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.

Central Crossing didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-26 loss against Lincoln on the 24th. As for Liberty Union, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 50-42 defeat against Amanda-Clearcreek on the 25th.
