Baseball Recap: Downey Gets the Win

The Downey Vikings beat the Bosco Tech Tigers 7-2 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Aaron Shelton looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caleb Monroe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Aiden Morfin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Downey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bosco Tech only posted a batting average of .222.

Downey's record is now 10-8. As for Bosco Tech, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Coming up, Downey will be playing at home against Heritage Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Bosco Tech, they will head out to face off against Hillcrest at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
